(Phnom Penh) – A shareholder of YY Capital Partners Co., Ltd. has turned to the Ministry of Justice of Cambodia, seeking intervention in a case involving Yamada Taihei, the company’s Chairman, over allegations of extensive financial misconduct and breach of trust.
The shareholder claims that Yamada, a Japanese national, abused his position to manipulate real estate transactions, inflate property prices, and divert company funds for personal gain. Preliminary investigations suggest that around USD 4 million may have been misappropriated.
According to the appeal, Yamada allegedly acted without consulting other shareholders, creating fictitious business transactions and arranging loans exceeding USD 7 million under false pretenses. He is also accused of forging documents and funneling substantial sums of money through multiple shell companies he controlled. Some of these funds were reportedly transferred overseas into an account under his wife’s name.
Further allegations indicate that Yamada established several shell companies in Cambodia, Japan, Malaysia, and Singapore, using nominees as official representatives while maintaining full control of all financial operations.
In Cambodia, Yamada has faced charges in at least two criminal cases, with certain assets and bank accounts frozen by court order. Additional investigations are ongoing. Authorities in countries including China, Japan, Malaysia, Singapore, Hong Kong, and the United States are also reportedly examining his activities in connection with embezzlement, document forgery, and possible money laundering.
The shareholder’s letters emphasize the need for a comprehensive and impartial investigation, raising concerns that powerful individuals could attempt to influence the judicial process, intimidate witnesses, or tamper with evidence.
Through the appeal, the investor urges Cambodian courts to ensure justice is delivered, hold the accused accountable, and protect the rights and interests of shareholders.
